CORPUS
Project Statement: CORPUS is a contemporary writing magazine that examines and redefines women’s role in the genre of horror.
The goal of this project was to create a conceptual publication from an assigned topic, mine being creative writing. I decided to create a publication that explores the intersection of horror, feminism, and the rising new genre of ‘femgore’.
WORDMARK
The first step of this process was creating a wordmark representative of the publication. I wanted to make the mark sharp and edgy while maintaining a feminine and chic look.
Process
Once I had my wordmark, I began ideating for my articles. I created warped and distorted imagery by scanning the typography and manipulating stock images to reference the ways female authors have co-opted the horror genre and stretched it in uncomfortable but necessary directions, transforming it from a tool of degradation into one of reclamation.
